Debra Soshoux is a native New Yorker. She was graduated cum laude in Sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and received her Juris Doctor and Master of Laws in Taxation from Boston University School of Law.
Debra was a general practitioner in Manhattan (NYC) and Miami Beach, Florida before moving to Los Angeles. She has broad experience in real estate matters, representing residential and commercial landlords and tenants, developers and condominium owners. As a Citibank mortgage power broker she facilitated financing for buyers. Debra has extensive experience in personal injury litigation. In the area of intellectual property, Debra was an attorney for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. She has represented theatrical producers, print and music publishers, authors, composers, managers, computer applications developers and numerous recording artists, recovering significant royalties and copyrights from record companies, film studios and music publishers. Debra worked for the State Attorney (Criminal Division), Dade County (Miami), Florida, and has represented numerous criminal defendants. She has litigated in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. She has litigated complex divorce and child custody cases and trust and estate matters. Most recently, she was an attorney with a major immigration firm in Sherman Oaks, California. Debra has a special interest representing members of the LGBT community who have been victims of discrimination.
As a judicial officer, Debra was an Arbitrator in the New York City Civil Court and an
Administrative Law Judge with the New York City Parking Violations Bureau and Taxi
and Limousine Commission. She was also an Administrative Hearing Officer in West
Hollywood, California. Debra was Adjunct Professor of Real Estate Law at Lehman
College, City University of New York and Adjunct Professor of Business Law, Long
Island University.
Debra served as a line officer in the U.S. Navy and retired from U.S. Naval Reserve as a Commander. She is admitted to the Court of Military Appeals.
Debra has traveled extensively. She is conversational in and speaks, with varying degrees of fluency, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Hebrew.
